Tour Highlights
6 Days Rongai Route – Mount Kilimanjaro
Approach Africa’s highest mountain from the quiet northern side near the Kenyan border. The 6-Day Rongai Route offers a more remote, less crowded climb with steady gradients and a high summit success rate.
The 6-Day Rongai Route is the only trail that approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the north. Known for its tranquility and gradual ascent profile, Rongai is ideal for trekkers seeking a quieter and slightly less strenuous climb compared to the busier southern routes.
The journey begins in remote wilderness, where wildlife such as colobus monkeys and antelope are occasionally spotted in the lower forest zones. As you ascend, the scenery transitions from montane forest to moorland and alpine desert before joining the main summit route near Kibo Hut.
Summit night begins around midnight, leading you to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) at sunrise — an unforgettable moment standing on the highest point in Africa. Descent is via the Marangu Route, offering varied scenery on the way down.
This route is particularly recommended during the rainy season, as the northern side of Kilimanjaro receives less precipitation.
